DonePlan Privacy Policy
Effective May 5, 2026 · Last updated August 30, 2026
DonePlan does not require account registration and does not collect the budgets and transaction records you create on a developer-operated server. Data is stored on your device by default and, if you choose to enable sync, in your personal iCloud account.
Information processed and where it is stored
- Plan data: Plan names, dates, budgets, income and expense records, notes, groups, icons, and banner settings are stored on your device to provide the app’s features.
- Photos: Icon and banner photos you select are copied into the app’s storage. They are not uploaded to a developer-operated server.
- Widget data: Plan summaries needed to display the widget are stored in the app group container on your device.
- Settings: App preferences such as the default currency for new plans, app lock, and sync settings are stored on your device.
- Support requests: If you contact us by email, your email address and message are processed so we can respond.
DonePlan does not use advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not combine app activity with advertising profiles or use it to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud sync in the app settings, your plan data is synchronized through Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. DonePlan does not make a separate copy on a developer-operated server.
Turning sync off changes the storage used by the app going forward to on-device storage, but it does not automatically delete data already synchronized to iCloud. You can manage existing iCloud data using the iCloud storage management features on your Apple device.
External content services
The following features communicate with their respective services only when you use them. During ordinary internet communication, your IP address, request time, and device or network information may be provided to the service provider and may be processed outside your country. Providers may infer an approximate location from your IP address or use a pseudonymous device-level identifier.
- Unsplash: Photo search terms, search and listing requests, photo views and selections, and the download event required by the Unsplash API are sent to Unsplash. Unsplash may associate these interactions with a pseudonymous device-level identifier and client IP address for service improvement, analytics, and API operation, and may infer an approximate location from the IP address. The selected photo file is also downloaded from Unsplash’s servers. Unsplash Privacy Policy · Unsplash API Terms
- GIPHY: GIF search terms, search and trending-list requests, and GIF view and selection interactions are sent to GIPHY. The selected GIF file is downloaded from GIPHY’s servers. GIPHY may process this information to provide app functionality, personalize content, and analyze its services. GIPHY Privacy Policy
DonePlan does not store these search terms or request information on a developer-operated server or use them for advertising tracking. Although DonePlan does not have separate user accounts, external services may associate search and interaction information with an IP address or pseudonymous device-level identifier. We review providers’ public privacy policies and safeguards, limit integrations to what is needed to provide the feature, and will discontinue an integration if we determine that it does not provide an appropriate level of protection.
Face ID and security
Face ID, Touch ID, or device authentication is handled by Apple’s operating system. DonePlan does not receive or store biometric information or your device passcode; it only receives the result of the authentication attempt.
In-app purchases
In-app purchases and purchase restoration are processed through Apple StoreKit. Apple manages payment and transaction verification. DonePlan does not receive or store payment card or bank information. Information processed by Apple services is subject to the Apple Privacy Policy.
Retention and deletion
- Plans, transaction records, photos, and settings stored on your device are retained until you delete them in the app or delete the app.
- Data synchronized to iCloud may remain in your personal iCloud account until you delete it in the app or through iCloud storage management.
- Backup and CSV files you create are stored in the location you choose. You are responsible for managing and deleting those files.
- Support emails and their contents are retained for up to 90 days after the request is resolved, then deleted. They may be retained longer when required by law or necessary to resolve a dispute.
- DonePlan does not retain search terms, financial records, biometric information, or payment information on a developer-operated server. Information received by external services is retained according to each provider’s privacy policy.
Your choices and deletion requests
- You can turn off iCloud sync and app lock at any time in the app settings.
- You can delete plans, transaction records, and groups directly in the app.
- If you do not want to send information to external content services, you can avoid Unsplash and GIPHY search and choose a color banner or a photo stored on your device instead.
- You can request deletion of support correspondence or submit another privacy request using the email address below.
The developer cannot directly access data stored on your device or in your personal iCloud account and therefore cannot delete that data for you in response to an email. You must delete it through the app, your device, or iCloud storage management.
Security measures
On-device data is stored in the iOS app sandbox, and iCloud synchronization uses Apple CloudKit. DonePlan does not send data to a developer-operated server unless it is needed to provide a feature, and external service integrations are limited to the minimum information required.
